Seismicity Map of North America

Compiler: E. R. Engdahl

Earthquake epicenters from global, national, regional, local catalogs, and other source material compared and compiled. Data spans an interval from 1534 through 1985. Only data exceeding magnitude-completeness threshold for each region and time period were plotted. Symbols and colors (used in plotting) reveal details of the seismotectonic fabric of North America yet preserve a perspective of historical earthquake occurrence.
