Join this one-day field trip to explore the structure and tectonic history of the central Wasatch Range near Provo. We'll hike 1 mile up Rock Canyon to observe phases of Rocky Mountain construction and collapse. Highlights include sediment accumulation from the Cambrian Sauk Transgression, the Cretaceous Sevier orogeny represented by the Rock Canyon Anticline, and orogenic collapse along the Wasatch Fault. After lunch, we’ll drive up Provo Canyon to view the rift valley and other key features. The hike and scenery are not to be missed! Cost includes transportation and lunch.
