Description: This ½-day trip will visit Coronados Island offshore Loreto to view the unique flora and fauna of the region and while enjoying snorkeling and a white sand beach. The tour lasts about 4-6 hours, during which we’ll go in search of wild marine animals in their natural habitat. Coronados Island is a young volcano, which forms rocky sea cliffs and steep bathymetry well suited for colonies of sea lions, common dolphins, and bottlenose dolphins. During the trip, we’ll observe various seabirds that live in the area or are just passing through. We will circle the island to admire the stunning lava rock formations, visit the sea lion colony, enjoy a snorkeling adventure, and stop at a white sandy beach for lunch, all while enjoying the breathtaking landscape. The trip includes marine park fees, snorkeling equipment, lunch, soft drinks, and snacks. A boat captain and a nature guide will accompany you on your tour.

Considerations: The trip will depart from and return to the Loreto marina, spending much of the day (6-7 hrs) in a panga, a 25-foot boat typical of the area. During the day, participants will need to climb in and out of the boat several times and might experience bumpy, wavy, windy ocean conditions. A dry restroom is available on the island for all visitors’ convenience. During beach landings and snorkeling activities participants might interact with plants and animals, some with sharp spines (e.g. cactus, cholla, sea urchin, sea lions). Participants should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions in April, including clouds, sun, light rain, wind, cold to hot temperatures, etc.
