Description: This 2-hour virtual field trip features 10 virtual reality sites at the convention center that covers examples of the southern Appalachians in Alabama including the stratigraphy of the Appalachian basin, history of mountain building, summary of metamorphism, and timeline for erosion and uplift. Come enjoy these outcrops without leaving the convention center. Stereoscopic and panoramic virtual reality videos from each site include an on outcrop description of the site. Field trip leaders will be present to answer questions and discuss the field sites. 3D terrain models, geologic maps, and hand samples will also be available to explore at this exhibit.
