A rich, although relatively unknown, invertebrate fauna has been reported from the Keyser Limestone; however, few adequate taxonomic studies of any of these fossils have been made.
In this work, 33 species of brachiopods, representing 26 genera, from within a 50-mile radius of the type section are described in detail. The stratigraphic ranges of these brachiopods are used as criteria to investigate the position of the Silurian-Devonian boundary in eastern North America.
