Description: UConn's introductory geoscience course ERTH 1000E – The Human Epoch: Living in the Anthropocene was launched in 2020, won the college's award in 2023, and is the department's most highly enrolled course, reaching approximately 1,000 students per year on multiple campuses. This full-afternoon short course will share our experience and hear from others in a five-part session: (1) introductions of participants; (2) description of our students; (3) challenges; (4) objectives; and (5) the course schedule of 88 core concepts within 22 daily units across five modules. The session includes breakouts followed by discussion, a walking field trip to visit urban geology, and a shared takeaway from all participants.
