Authors: Earle F. McBride and Alan Thomson
From the original catalog copy: In the Marathon and Solitario regions of west Texas, the Caballos Novaculite has attracted considerable attention because of the unusual character of white chert (novaculite) and the abundance of chert of other colors. It is the chief ridge-former and best delineates major structural features over a large area. Part 1 describes the stratigraphy of the Caballos. Part 2 describes the petrography and discusses interpretations of origin. Typical specimens are illustrated in color.
