Thirteen largely glacial-marine lithostratigraphic units ranging in age from late Miocene to Holocene constitute the first description and interpretation of the lithostratigraphy of the central Arctic Ocean. Relationships of the surface sediment and sediment cores are explained. Conclusions pertain to the paleoclimatology of the central Arctic Ocean.
