Full Title: Tectonic Evolution of a Forearc Terrane, Southern Scotia Ridge, Antarctica
Author: Ian W.D. Dalziel
Metamorphic and sedimentary rocks of the South Orkney and South Shetland island groups and the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula appear to represent the products of subduction-related accretion and of sedimentation respectively, in a forearc environment along the Pacific margin of Antarctica. Structural studies presented here were conducted primarily by making landings in inflatable boats in the South Orkney and South Shetland island groups and at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. Conclusions are drawn about the structural evolution of the forearc terrane and the tectonic evolution of the southern Scotia Ridge. The low price and interesting subject matter malkes this an attractive addition to reading lists for courses in tectonics and structural geology, and researchers in subduction-related problems or the evolution of Antarctica should have this book in their libraries.
