The paleobiological interpretation of dinosaurs as living creatures is the subject of this interdisciplinary volume, which proceeds from the premise that the dinosaurs, after all, faced the same problems that confront modern animals: finding food, resisting predators, and ensuring the survival of offspring. The contributions from paleontologists, physiologists, and ecologists treat dinosaur reproduction, parental care, energetics, functional morphology, and biogeography; evolutionary interactions between herbivorous dinosaurs and Mesozoic plants; and life-history strategies, including the possible role of some of these phenomena in the dinosaurs' extinction.
