This volume is an outgrowth of a symposium on sedimentation and stratigraphy of the basin held at a meeting of the North-Central Section of GSA. It contains a variety of papers on the late Pleistocene and Holocene history of the basin. Included are papers dealing with radiocarbon dating of the type Calumet shoreline features in Illinois and Indiana; the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore; stratigraphy and detailed lithologic characteristics of Wisconsinan diamictons; studies of specific localities adjacent to the Lake Michigan shoreline in NE Wisconsin; climatic control of lake levels during the Holocene Epoch, with particular attention to the morphology and stratigraphy of a beach-ridge complex that straddles the Illinois-Wisconsin state line; and uplifted shorelines.
