A comprehensive study of older rocks of Grenada and the Grenadine islands of the southern Lesser Antilles arc platform (SLAAP). Focuses on the structural and stratigraphic evolution of the arc platform that led up to its Neogene emergence as a magmatic arc and an east-tilted half horst. A six-stage evolutionary model is proposed: (1) middle Eocene oceanic-spreading in a basin probably contiguous with the Grenada Basin; (2) Paleogene basinal sedimentation with provenance from a non-SLAAP arc; (3) NS contraction in late Oligocene or early Miocene; (4) middle Miocene uplift and local magmatism; (5) EW contraction; and (6) normal faulting and widespread volcanism from 12 Ma to present.
