About the Authors: O. Richard Norton is former director of the Grace Flandrau Planetarium and Science Center at the University of Arizona and the Fleischmann Planetarium at the University of Nevada at Reno. He studied meteoritics under world-renowned meteoriticist Frederick C. Leonard. Norton taught astronomy at Central Oregon Community College and served as president of Science Graphics, a company that produces instructional science slides for use in college and university classrooms.
Dorothy S. Norton is an artist and scientific illustrator specializing in astronomy, geology, and paleontology. She wrote and illustrated What’s So Mysterious about Meteorites? (out of print.) Her colorful paintings of extinct animals grace the walls of Japan’s National Geological Museums. From her home in Bend, Oregon, she produces instructional science slides for use in college and university classrooms.
