Full title: From Orogenies to Hydrology: Geologic Excursions in Texas and Beyond
Editors: Zachariah Fleming and John (Matt) Cannon
The guides in this volume explore geology around the United States with a particular focus on Texas. Trips throughout central Texas step back through time, starting with the resources that helped to build and maintain San Antonio. From there, a trip leads to the K/Pg boundary, taking advantage of the Gulf Coast Core Repository, while another looks at the Precambrian and Cambrian history of the Llano uplift. Other trips focus on the West Texas region, with the “West Texas nexus” highlighting geology ranging from biostratigraphy to the record of orogenesis. Two more West Texas trips include sites in the Davis Mountains Volcanic Field and another that explores the Cretaceous history of the Trans-Pecos region. The final guide heads farther west and investigates the record of subduction in Santa Catalina Island.
